1955 was a big year for Roger Corman. He made his directorial debut (the western Five Guns West ) and proceeded to direct or co-direct no less than four films that year, culminating with Day the World Ended  at the end of '55. There are no shortage of post-nuke movies to come out of the Cold War paranoia of the 1950s, but this is Corman's mid-fifties take on the same subject matter that would soon be revisited in movies like The Last Man on Earth  and The World, The Flesh and the Devil .  In the film, humanity has largely eradicated itself with the atomic bomb. A few survivors remain in the post-nuclear fallout; some huddle together, trying to isolate themselves away from the dangers of the outside world and the mutants that wander the ruins. Others travel in search of shelter, provisions, and maybe finding others who can help.  It's here that our story begins and we meet our small cast of characters. I Bury the Living is a cool little black-and-white psychological horror film from 1958. It was written by Louis Garfunkel ( A Minute to Pray, a Second to Die ) and directed by Albert Band (father of Charles Band), produced by Maxim Productions, and distributed by MGM. The premise is simple, but very effective: Robert Kraft (played by Richard Boone) is appointed as the director of a cemetery. There's a huge map indicating which grave sites are reserved (marked with a white pin) and those that are filled (marked with a black pin). When a just-married couple cruise by the cemetery to tell Kraft that they'd like to buy two graves close to the groom's father's burial site, Kraft accidentally used black pins instead of white pins to mark their request. Tragedy strikes and the married couple is killed. Did Kraft cause it by using black pins instead of white?

Shout Factory has just announced that they will be releasing the entire Universal Pictures library of Abbott and Costello films on November 5th! The package, released under the "Shout Select" label, will include all 28 movies that Abbott and Costello made while contracted with Universal, including their massively-popular comedy/horror films featuring the studio's iconic Monsters like Frankenstein, The Invisible Man , and The Mummy !

Scream Factory is present at San Diego Comic Con and has revealed a list of titles that will be headed to Blu-ray soon. The upcoming release slate includes some Hammer Films titles that will be headed to Blu-ray for the first time ever, as well as a series of upgraded re-releases and a few box sets. The release we're most excited about here at C@M is "Universal Horror Collection Vol.3," which will feature   Tower of London (with Vincent Price!) , Man Made Monster, The Black Cat (1941), and Horror Island!
