In its near 60-year history, Star Trek  has entertained us with hundreds of stories. A lot of those stories were told on television and movie screens, but dedicated fans know that there are a myriad of other tales that exist solely on the page. The   bookshelf of the final frontier is packed with novels , comic books , behind-the-scenes accounts, meditations on philosophy, both actor and character biographies, technical manuals, even fitness guides . Now, a new publication seeks to shed light on an area where no book has gone before: the friendships of Star Trek .  The Star Trek Book of Friendship is a unique volume in the long and storied history of Trek books because it features two friends casually exploring the relationships of the franchise. Over the course of 128 pages, authors Robb Pearlman and Jordan Hoffman discuss just about every relationship from the history of the property: Kirk and Spock, Picard and Riker, Data and La Forge, Janeway and Tuvok, Sisko and...

DISCLAIMER: Art is completely subjective. The appreciation of cinema is completely objective. I wanted to get that out of the way before I proceed with what is a deep passion of mine. Movie posters are like book covers. They can draw or repulse. They can even draw a person in because they repulse. Bad movies can have spectacular posters. Excellent films can have terrible posters. This is the first article that I have in a planned series that discusses this notion from a purely artistic standpoint. A review of a movie poster in no way reflects a film. It is a total and separate entity. What I am also offering here is my own opinion based on hours of research and art appreciation. I am in no way a complete expert. Therefore, if my opinion is different from yours, dear reader, please do not take offense. My intention is not to be negative in any way. I am simply offering my observations and opinions. Thank you for your understanding! A movie poster can make a film or break it. That...

Cereal At Midnight recently had the opportunity to speak with author Robb Pearlman about his new book  Body By Starfleet , a fitness guide that uses the worlds and characters of Star Trek to promote physical health! C@M: Robb, thank you so much for speaking with us!  Body By Starfleet combines physical fitness with the themes, characters, and ideals of Star Trek. Some readers may be surprised at how naturally these two topics fit together. What was the genesis of this project, and what led you to combine your love of Star Trek with personal fitness? RP : A few years ago I decided to make a change in my life and go where I'd never gone before: they gym. I found a great local place, Tutela Training Systems, in Clark NJ. Though I was initially intimidated to even walk through the door, I quickly warmed to it as I realized that the other guys working out were not only of all different body types, backgrounds, and careers, but all completely supportive and encouraging of e...

In this mail video, we unbox a mountain of sweet paperbacks (and one hardcover) from Lura and some killer KISS kollectibles from Leontyne! Thanks so much to both Lura and Leontyne for the thoughtful and wonderful packages!

We're 18 and we like it! This thrift store video is filled with hidden gems, eccentric collectibles, and some truly unexpected movie, music, book, and video game discoveries!

Writer Scott Tipton has been blazing new trails with IDW's Star Trek comics for over a decade, penning titles like Klingons: Blood Will Tell  and the  Mirror Broken  series, as well as crossing over the heroes of the Federation with other fan-favorite properties such as Planet of the Apes and Doctor Who . Scott and his co-writer and brother David Tipton have now launched perhaps their most ambitious project yet: in The Q Conflict , four Federation crews--those of The Original Series, The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager -- are brought together for the first time to face their most powerful threat yet. Cereal At Midnight had the pleasure to chat with Scott about this new comic, creative inspirations and mentors, and the responsibility of carrying on Gene Rodenberry's dream.

It's time for another Mego update! There are big things brewing in the world of 8 inch action figures, and we're going to cover it all. From wave 4 (and beyond), wholesale availability to retailers outside of Target, and even some cool new retro horror figures, there's a lot of developing in the Mego marketplace!

The Mego saga continues! Weeks after the launch of Wave 2, many fans seem to be having an even harder time trying to find the new figures in their local Target stores and on Target.com than they did with Wave 1! Is there hope on the horizon? In this video, we tackle some tough questions.

In the ninth installment of the prestigious Thrift Store series, I celebrate my birthday by visiting three thrift stores in a row. This is the biggest, longest thrift store video yet!

In this video, we open a package that was sent to us by a group that has partnered with Mego and is one of the key players in the current Target Exclusive line of figures! Plus, we have an update on the current line, as well as when we can expect future waves! If you've been following the current Mego situation, you won't want to miss this video.

On July 29th, 2018, Marty Abrams' legendary toy line MEGO returned to the market for the first time in decades. At least, that was the plan. Partnering with the retail giant Target, MEGO was set to launch exclusive figures in stores and online just days after a panel at San Diego Comic Con International. The hype among fans was huge. The anticipation was even bigger. However, when launch day arrived, most fans couldn't find the figures in their local Target stores. Frustrated and disappointed toy enthusiasts took to social media to vent their frustration. A small selection of figures are available online at Target.com, but is the damage done?

In 2006, Pocket Books published a trio of novels in celebration of  Star Trek 's 40th Anniversary. These books looked back affectionately at the original 1966 television series, but with a fresh twist that turned established stories on their head. Each book of David R. George III's "Crucible" trilogy highlighted a member of the show's trinity (Kirk, Spock, and McCoy), and explored how their pasts and futures hinged on one very pivotal event. The first of these books was Crucible: McCoy - Provenance of Shadows , and it's one of the best Star Trek  books I've ever read.
