Stage, film, and television legend Juliet Mills, recipient of the 2025 Cinecon Legacy Award, takes us behind the scenes of Andrew V. McLaglen's 1966 western classic THE RARE BREED! Juliet also discusses working with Billy Wilder, Ida Lupino, Jack Lemmon, and Billy Wilder, growing up in a famous acting family (her father is Sir John Mills and her sister is Hayley Mills), and working on stage with Terence Stamp. Plus, Cinecon's Bryan Cooper tells us what to expect at this year's Cinecon film festival.

Demi Moore earned her first Oscar nom for The Substance , and she deserves it. After all, she's a survivor of the Hollywood machine who delivers a brave and memorable performance. The film also serves as a showcase for Margaret Qualley, who blazes into courageous territory herself.  But at some point, this potent cautionary tale from French filmmaker Coralie Fargeat turns into a bizarre splatter fest (not unlike Peter Jackson's Braindead , aka Dead Alive ) that diminishes its message and dilutes its themes in a tidal wave of gore and blood that is so relentless that it becomes desensitizing and, dare I say, uninteresting. Review: Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)

Deadpool & Wolverine is less a movie and more a collection of fan service, references, and easter eggs. At the same time, it's a shot in the arm for the flagging Marvel Cinematic Universe, which really should have ended (or at least gone into hibernation) following Avengers: Endgame. Listen, everyone knows the score here: Deadpool exists to break the fourth wall and offering meta commentary on the experience of the film as it happens. It's both refreshing and exhausting in equal portions, but the constant inside jokes that call out everything from other Ryan Reynolds movies to the Disney purchase of Fox to deep cuts for comic book aficionados effectively render non-stop dopamine hits for the viewer that keep things moving along and distract us from the shortcomings of the story.
