'70s Cinema - An In-Depth Discussion with Cinema Dave!

Image
Ah, the 1970s! There's no other decade quite like it, and the movies that came from the era are a reflection of the rapid social changes that were happening at the time. From The Godfather to Grease, from Serpico to Star Wars, it's an period of unrest, cynicism, and anger, but also of hope, excitement, and nostalgia. It's also the decade in which the blockbuster as we know it now was first born with the movie JAWS ! Please join Heath and Cinema Dave for an in-depth discussion about this tumultuous decade in film and an exploration on how so many of the movies from that reflect so many of our current social struggles. It's a mini-film school session as we dig into the classics! DISCLAIMER: Art is completely subjective. The appreciation of cinema is completely objective. I wanted to get that out of the way before I proceed with what is a deep passion of mine. Movie posters are like book covers. They can draw or repulse. They can even draw a person in because they repulse. Bad movies can have spectacular posters. Excellent films can have terrible posters. This is the first article that I have in a planned series that discusses this notion from a purely artistic standpoint. A review of a movie poster in no way reflects a film. It is a total and separate entity. What I am also offering here is my own opinion based on hours of research and art appreciation. I am in no way a complete expert. Therefore, if my opinion is different from yours, dear reader, please do not take offense. My intention is not to be negative in any way. I am simply offering my observations and opinions. Thank you for your understanding! A movie poster can make a film or break it. That...

Hardware to Halo Release Their Second Album, Sensory System

Image
Our friends at Hardware To Halo have officially released their second album, Sensory System ! The new collection of songs follows on the heels of last summer's After the War is Won  and delivers 15 more tracks of what we like to call "Europop with an American accent." Lush synthesizers, haunting guitars, and beats that were made to be appreciated on a dance floor combine to create an ethereal, liquid experience.
