Our friends at Hardware To Halo have officially released their second album, Sensory System! The new collection of songs follows on the heels of last summer's After the War is Won and delivers 15 more tracks of what we like to call "Europop with an American accent." Godzilla: The Showa Era Officially Announced for the Criterion Collection!

After weeks of speculation and rumor, that rumbling sound in the distance has finally been revealed: Godzilla is coming! Criterion has officially announced Godzilla: The Showa Era as release number 1000! The set will include the entire Showa Era of Godzilla (1954-1975), which saw the debut of the titan in the aftermath of World War II, and concluded over twenty years later with the delightfully-campy Terror of Mechagodzilla. This is the first time such a comprehensive set has ever been released outside of Japan, and it sure sounds like it's going to be the prestigious release that fans of the series have wanted for decades.

Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July (1979)

We're big fans of Rankin/Bass here at Cereal At Midnight, and we love talking about the company and their legacy every time we get a chance. No single company is more synonymous with holiday magic than Rankin/Bass, who is responsible for a string of TV specials that still get a lot of love decades after they originally aired. The collaboration between Arthur Rankin, Jr. and Jules Bass yielded Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer (1964), Frosty the Snowman (1969), Santa Claus is Comin' to Town (1970), Here Comes Peter Cottontail (1971), The Year Without a Santa Claus (1974), Rudolph's Shiny New Year (1976), and our personal favorite, the theatrical film Mad Monster Party (1967)! But nothing can prepare a viewer for the bizarre zaniness of 1979's Rudolph and Frosty's Christmas in July, which feels like a fever dream starring Rankin/Bass' most successful characters.

Mothra (1961) Steelbook Blu-ray Review

Mothra is here!

Directed by Ishiro Honda, the man who brought Godzilla and Rodan to audiences in the fifties, Mothra is a classic film in every sense of the word. Though the title monster (which is hardly a fair term for such a regal creature) would arguably become far more well known from an endless string of films in which it was pitted against (and sometimes alongside) the King of the Monsters himself, this is the movie that presents the world to the keeper and protector of an island that's brimming with life.
