Two cult classic action flicks from director Brian Trenchard-Smith have arrived on Blu-ray at last, and the story behind the films is every bit as interesting as the action on the screen!

In this video, we take a deep dive into the documentaries of Australian filmmaker Mark Hartley, the man behind the massively-popular films Not Quite Hollywood: The Wild, Untold Story of Ozploitation, Machete Madiens Unleashed, and Electric Boogaloo: the Wild Untold Story of Cannon Films! These three documentaries combine to offer an education in the history of exploitation cinema, charting entire decades of grindhouse, drive-in, and VHS-era movies from all over the world. All three films are available on hugely-expanded Blu-ray editions from Umbrella Entertainment, and feature hours and hours of special features! Join us as we explore the wild Outback of Australia, the humid jungles of the Philippines, and the bizarre world of low-budget Hollywood!

This ambitious Australian science fiction movie from 1987 never quite lives up to its own hype. Exhibit A: the poster for The Time Guardian  depicts a muscular guy in a sleeveless shirt and sunglasses, blasting what appears to be a robot or cyborg in the face with a huge laser cannon while the world around him crumbles and burns. The tagline reads "Time is just about the only thing he won't waste." This image and blurb conjures a Schwarzenegger-style action movie in which our hero takes on cybernetic hordes with no holds barred, delivering one-liners as he serves up destruction. In grand exploitation movie fashion, nothing in the actual movie comes close to being as cool as what this poster promises.
